Electronic Music from one of the most Magical Places in the World - The best Electro Bands from Iceland

It is soooo cold in Iceland. Nevertheless, the music that comes from the island warms our hearts up. Icelandic music now has much more to offer than the great achievements of the famous artist Sigur Ròs or Björk. We introduce you the most interesting electronic artists based on the island. vor.

Ólafur Arnalds
The Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and producer Ólafur Arnalds comes from Mosfellsbaer. Originally, the talent arose out of the hardcore scene and previously produced pretty much metal. We assume the music became too blunt for him, and so nowadays Òlufar attends the shallow sounds of orchestral instrumental ambient pop. After the Icelander accompanied Sigur Rós as opening act on tour in 2008, his career really took off in ride. Together with Janus Rasmussen, he also runs the minimal techno project "Kiasmos".

GusGus
GusGus exists since 1995 – so to say old hands in the Icelandic electrical business. Having originally started with 12 people, the band today consists of three musicians from Iceland: Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson, Stephan Stephensen and Birgir Þórarinsson. Their last three albums "Forever", "24/7" and "Arabian Horse" assign itselves to techno, wherein at GusGus always a spark soul resonates. Sometimes even house, experimental pop or trip hop are interlaced. At singing the themes are mostly about sex. We think there are worse themes!

Sisi Ey
And now last but not least the absolute newcomers from Iceland. The three sisters Elin, Elisabet and Sigga searched a producer who embed their sweet voices in house music for a long time. With the DJ and producer Oculus, they ultimately made a find. As a foursome, they have been producing finest electro-pop for four years, in which the vocals snuggle energetically with house elements. We hope to hear a lot more from the young Icelanders.
