Shaolin Arts on Stage! The big Jackie Chan is back with us
On November, 19th the theater Jackie Chan will perform its a unique show "Dragon" in the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk. The play "The Gates of Shaolin", which caused a sensation at the international festival in the USA, will be shown to a Russian audience as part of a big tour. Shortly after the event in the Blagoveshchensk Theater, the play will be presented in the snow-covered Russian capital Moscow and from there to the neighboring capital of Belarus.
For the world-famous actor of fighting Jackie Chan, who has a phenomenal sense of humor, theater is something familiar. His theater "Dragon" is a true miracle of Chinese culture and embodies many cultural achievements of this nation. "Gates of Shaolin" is the story of eleven young men who seek the meaning of their own existence gradually going through several stations, such as the "Ghost Gate" or the "Gate of Evil". Overcoming the difficulties, they use their spirit and the greatness of the human soul to comprehend their body. This beautiful idea, wrapped in real Chinese "wrappers" consists of elements of martial arts, acrobatics, choreography, colourful costumes and of course music. The artists perform tricks the same way Jackie Chan presented it.
It is remarkable that in the one-year preparations for the tour a number of choreographers and acrobats have lived for a time in a Shaolin Monastery to train the Chinese wisdom. It is remarkable how the director connected the story and tradition with the spiritual components of China alongside the elements of modern blockbuster.
Jackie Chan, who was 62 years old in April 2016, is still being asked for cinema films. In the course of his life, he has played in more than 100 films, including "The Armor of God", "Rush Hour", "Drunken Master" and many others. The roles of Jackie Chan have always been very different, but it just does not suit him to play the "bad boy" - with his radiant smile.
By the way: On November, 12th 2016 Jackie Chan will receive the Academy Award of of Honor. He is awarded for outstanding performance in the cinema. He deserved this since he made a significant contribution and is still considered as a pioneer in his craft. Few people know that Jackie Chan is even a talented singer!
