Bud Spencer & Terence Hill

Four Fists for a Guarantee of Success: A Portrait about Bud Spencer and Terence Hill

They are the most iconic television duo: Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. Since their first Western "God Forgives... I Don't!" for which they stood in front of the camera in 1967, the actors Carlo Pedersoli and Mario Girotti became Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. The most successful team of European film was born.

Bud Spencer was born as Carlo Pedersoli on 31st October 1929 in the Italian Naples. He studied law and was a successful champion swimmer. His fellow actor Terence Hill was born on March 29th 1939 under the name Mario Girotti in Venice. 1943 the family moved to the vicinity of Dresden. Fearing the Russian occupation forces in 1947 she went back to Rome. As Carlo also Mario is an enthusiastic swimmer and both trained together in the same club. Mario was discovered by the director Dino Risi and took acting classes at the famous Actor's Studio in Rome. In 1959 the two actors were playing in the film "Hannibal". Neither of them knew, that only a few years later they would be one of the most celebrated duos of film history.

The duo discovered the comedy for themselves and here they are more than successful: Between 1967 and 1994 they together produced 20 films that particularly in German-country reached cult status. Through numerous scuffles and sound bites films such as "Trinity Is Still My Name" or "Go for It" became classics.

In 1995 Bud Spencer and Terence Hill for the moment were on camera for the last time together with the film "Miami Supercops”. Almost 10 years later, Terence´s son Jess Hill developed a new script and the cult duo were set together in the Western comedy "Troublemakers". The movie flopped and remains their last collaboration until today.

The four fists are still one of the most iconic film duos. But, the "Best Buddies" will not produce any further films together. A possible comeback denies Bud with the words: "Never again, we move like old men." Terence Hill continues to work as an actor. Bud Spencer has devoted itself to the writing. His autobiographies "Bud Spencer. My life, my films" and "In 80 years around the world. The second part of my autobiography." became bestsellers.
