In Salekhard opened an unusual Painting Exhibition - Paintings of Wool

In tying to implement the ideas of artists, they often consider unusual materials. Such is ... wool. The exhibition "Painting out of Wool" by Irina Ostashkova (Ирина Осташкова) opened in Salekhard at the beginning of November. There the administrative center of the Yamal-Nenets autonomous district in Russia is located.

In the exhibition, dozens of paintings are shown alongside a variety of genres - still life, landscapes and images of animals. All artworks are developed using an unusual wool-watercolor technique. Wool is the catch phrase. The paintings are literally made of this material. There are also pictures of cats and dogs among the artworks of the artist.

It has not been that long ago since the artist Irina Ostashkova became more interested in science. She is a physics teacher. She worked in educational institutions of Russia and even served the units of internal affairs. Less than two years ago, she discovered her creativity and has achieved amazing results since then.

The artist, who produces paintings of wool, soon discovered the uniqueness of this material. It is also not that difficult for beginners – it is easy to get wool, one can process it in a convenient way and it looks good. Wool can be produced in different shades and different thicknesses.

The images based on wool are practically indistinguishable from artworks painted in watercolours. To create a painting using this technique, a novice chooses a simple motif. You initially need wool, tweezers, scissors and fabric as a fundament.

Artworks of wool have a high demand. They are believed to provide a specific power due to the material. In addition to wool, viscose or silk can also be used for decorative images. Depending on the method, wool achieves special effects in the way of unusual colour transitions and saturations.
