What is the Secret of his Music? Ludovico Einaudi – Ludovico Einaudi - the Master Pianist

He has been thrilling the masses with his quiet piano music for decades. Ludovico Einaudi is truly a master of his genre. With his feature-length endless loops, he brings the audience to meditative consciousnesses. Ludovico Einaudi is currently on tour.

Ludovico Einaudi was born into an influential family in Turin in 1955. His paternal grandfather was Italian President after the Second World War, his other grandpa was composer and conductor. His father was one of the most important publishers in Italy. Einaudi studied at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he was able to study with the avant-garde composer Luciano Berio.

However, despite his childhood alongside many politicians, artists, media builders and writers, the young Einaudi did not move towards avant-garde. Inspired by Erik Satie and Brian Eno, the inventor of ambient music, he moved to the background developing a revolutionary, minimalistic approach to piano music.

The secret of his success lies in the simplicity of his compositions. For years, the young Einaudi was thought to write twelve-tone music, in which serial formulas prescribed the rules for good or bad music. Every tone had a reason. In 1996, his first solo album "Le Onde" came out. For the first time, this work led him perform solo on the piano accompanied by ensembles and live electronics. In the following years, he released further albums, including his very successful masterpiece "Una Mattina" (2004) and his biggest success so far, "Divenire" (2006).

After the jewels "Nightbook" (2009) and "In a Time Lapse" (2013), the master pianist has been getting us pickled with his current concept album "Elements" since 2015. Again, the form-completed melancholy on black-and-white keys is riding a boom again. After a fine voice appeared in his music in the last albums, "Elements" emphasizes the variety of instruments. The concept is the same. Einaudi's piano remains in the foreground. On the latest album, however, the other instruments are beeing given an extended tonal range. Einaudi creates a geometric suite with twelve instrumentals, in which "consciousness should break new grounds".

It is clear that his minimalist art makes listeners to indulge in inner states. His fans love it. Currently, Ludovico Einaudi is still on tour throughout Europe and North America with his album "Elements".
