Festival Photography

Capturing moving Moments and Emotions

Life moves fast. The unsharpness lies in many moments. On festivals every individual moves and celebrates for her- or himself together with the crowd. To capture these fragments of individuals and to realise the joy of music and the people is the job of professional festival photographers around the world.

Modern technology nowadays allows that anyone can call her- or himself a photographer. However, the work of a really good photographer at festivals or concerts is the ability to capture the dimensionality of emotions, colours and the magic of the moment.

One of these photographers is the Swiss Bobby C. Alkabes. She passed her bachelor's degree in photojournalism in San Francisco and travelled through the world afterwards. Back in Switzerland, she opened up her own studio in Ste-Croix. Inspired by visual arts, she has worked with many famous artists such as HR Giger and many more. Her work consists of photographs at music festivals and for the press. Furthermore, she has been working on a project on which she conducted a study with regards to tattooed people and their choice of symbolism.

One of the most outstanding photographers on the South American continent is Murilo Ganesh from Brazil. His work shows depth and the captured magic of the moment by particularly emphasizing alternative image tones.

In Germany, the artist Mike Mc.Kotch is to be mentioned, who has developed a platform for passionate festival photographers with his art collective "Weareone Photography".

Certainly, photographing at festivals is always a tricky action. After all, not everyone wants to be photographed in the state of agitation. It is a challenge for festival photographers to respect the privacy of everyone and with regards to data protection to act responsibly. The capture of happy people states the gratitude for the work behind the lens. This is probably perceived by all festival photographers who have found their calling in it.
